Founded in 2014, the Centre for Research and Social Development IDEAS is a civil society organisation dedicated to building a more inclusive, just and equitable society where everyone has equal opportunities to reach their full potential.
Our distinctive approach combines policy development, research and institutional capacity building with direct services for vulnerable groups to deliver lasting solutions to complex social challenges.
Our key areas of work include social security, social inclusion, employment, good governance, democratic participation, human rights, equality and anti-discrimination. We focus on improving the lives of refugees, LGBTIQ+ people, children, older people and persons with disabilities.
Since its founding, IDEAS has worked to develop and improve legal and policy frameworks and strengthen social services to improve the lives of children, persons with disabilities, older people and women. We develop the policies we advocate through broad stakeholder participation, encouraging dialogue and mutual understanding among key actors.
IDEAS has worked to protect refugees and asylum seekers since 2015. Building on years of extensive work in this field, we formally established our Asylum and Migration Programme in 2021. The programme covers five core areas: direct support, empowerment, research and analysis, policy development and innovation, and capacity building. IDEAS has been a UNHCR partner in Serbia since 2018 and is a member of the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE). You can find more information about our Asylum and Migration Programme here.
IDEAS brings together more than 60 professionals and experts from various fields. The diverse experiences and perspectives of our collaborators drive the development of practical and innovative solutions that improve everyday life for the most vulnerable groups in society.
