The Center for Research and Social Development IDEAS, in partnership with the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue and the British Embassy in Belgrade, is organising a three-day conference from 9 to 11 February – the GAME CHANGERS CONFERENCE (#GCC) – IN PURSUIT OF BALANCE. The conference is a unique platform for dialogue on social and economic justice, bringing together representatives of institutions, companies, international organisations, and civil society from Serbia and the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the global race for economic recovery after the pandemic, the heaviest burden is once again being borne by vulnerable social groups such as women, persons with disabilities, Roma, refugees, and members of the LGBTI+ community. Old insecurities have been compounded by new uncertainties that threaten stability, social cohesion, and human rights – above all in the area of work and employment. In 2020, IDEAS launched a survey involving more than 60 companies operating in Serbia. The results showed that market leaders have at their disposal all the mechanisms needed to combat discrimination in their workplaces. These social actors also have a significant wider influence on reducing social inequalities and discrimination – within employees’ families, in local communities, and in society as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The #GCC Conference aims to provide a framework for dialogue between relevant political actors, business leaders, policy-makers, civil-society activists, and representatives of the international community through three days of intensive discussion on the future of social and economic justice. As we live in challenging times, it is highly important that everyone takes part in shaping a social reality that fits all citizens. Conference participants will have the opportunity to propose effective and transformative solutions to the most pressing problems and contribute to building a more solidaristic and equitable society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The conference will feature more than 40 panellists, including the Minister of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue Gordana \u010comi\u0107, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovi\u0107, the Head of the UNHCR Representation in Serbia Francesca Bonelli, the UK Ambassador to Serbia Sian MacLeod, and the UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on LGBT+ Rights, the Rt Hon Lord Herbert of South Downs, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
